Family Roots That Run Deep

My name is Ed Ference, and I’m proud to be running for Manatee County Commission, District 6. I was born and raised right here in Manatee County, and I’ve spent more than 30 years serving this community through Manatee County Utilities.

I started in the field and worked my way up through the ranks with determination, hard work, and a willingness to learn from those who came before me. I never went to college, but I like to say I earned a “master’s degree in common sense” by solving problems firsthand—side by side with the people of this county.

Over the years, folks have come to know me as loyal, fair, and steady. I don’t believe in empty promises or political games. I believe in real solutions that make life better for our neighbors. My word is my bond, and I’ve always tried to lead with honesty and accountability—whether working with colleagues, contractors, or the people we serve.

My family’s roots in Manatee County run deep. My wife and I both come from families that have lived here for generations. This county isn’t just where I live—it’s who I am. My Baptist faith has shaped my life, and I strive every day to live out the values of service, humility, and integrity.

I’m also an outdoorsman at heart. I love fishing, hunting, and enjoying the natural beauty of our county. That’s why I’m deeply concerned about unchecked overdevelopment. Growth without responsibility is putting real pressure on our infrastructure, our wildlife, our open spaces, and the very way of life that makes Manatee County special.

My Priorities Are Clear:

  • Manage growth responsibly so our infrastructure can catch up and keep up with population.

  • Protect our beaches, natural lands, agriculture and wildlife for future generations to enjoy.

  • Keep taxes fair and county spending accountable.

  • Support education, the cornerstone of a strong community.

  • Represent the people with honesty and independence.

I’m not a career politician. I’m your neighbor, your friend, and a lifelong resident of Manatee County. I’m a hard-working man, a man of faith, and someone who believes deeply in the power of community.

I’m running to serve you—to make Manatee County strong, sustainable, and true to its roots.
